BSNL, under the BharatNet programme of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), required the deployment of a Smart Mini Data Centre (Rack-Based Edge DC) to support BharatNet middle-mile network operations in Madhya Pradesh. The requirement focused on establishing a high-availability, monitored, and scalable data center environment capable of supporting critical ICT equipment with precision cooling, intelligent power distribution, environmental monitoring, fire safety, and long-term operational reliability in accordance with BharatNet RFP guidelines

Project Objectives

  • Deploy a rack-based Smart Mini Data Centre supporting up to 60 kW IT load with N+1 redundancy.
  • Ensure 24×7 uninterrupted operations through integrated power, cooling, and monitoring systems.
  • Implement centralized monitoring for temperature, humidity, access control, leakage, alarms, and system health.
  • Integrate rack-level fire detection and suppression systems for enhanced asset safety.
  • Execute the project in strict compliance with BharatNet RFP technical, testing, and documentation requirements.
  • Provide a long-term warranty and AMC framework ensuring sustained performance up to 10 years.

    • Scope of Work

  • Design & Engineering: Preparation of GA drawings, detailed layouts, SOPs, installation guidelines, and test cases aligned with BharatNet RFP.
  • Rack & Infrastructure Deployment: Supply and installation of 6 Smart IT racks and 1 utility rack, complete with accessories, metered iPDUs, structured mounting, and cable management.
  • Cooling System Implementation: Deployment of inline precision cooling units (20 kW each) with N+1 redundancy, including outdoor condensers, copper piping, heaters, sensors, and refrigerant charging.
  • Monitoring & Safety Systems: Integration of central monitoring units with temperature/humidity sensors, access control, auto door systems, leak detection, rack-based fire detection & suppression, and rodent repellent systems.
  • Electrical & Surveillance Systems: Installation of raw power panels, UPS output DBs, power distribution, cabling, earthing integration, HMI-based single-window monitoring, and IP-based CCTV surveillance.
  • Testing, Commissioning & Support: Execution of FAT and SAT, final commissioning, documentation handover, followed by 1-year warranty and structured AMC from 2nd to 10th year with preventive maintenance, fault management, spares, and SLA-backed response.
